Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

When people come to therapy they generally are in distress and that distress feels like a jumble of uncomfortable feelings that are out of control. My role as a therapist is to help my clients make sense of the chaos. I do this through the framework of CBT. By becoming aware of and separating their own feelings, thoughts and underlying beliefs, my clients are able to consciously create their own transformation. CBT can radically change your view of yourself and your environment.
Mindfulness

I like to explain mindfulness as an attitude. It involves being aware of the present moment without judgment. It's an attention to what is happening within ourselves and in our surroundings. We observe what is going on with neutral and acceptance.. This doesn't mean that we don't strive to change things or make improvements; in fact we are more apt to make constructive changes when it does not come from a place of fear, stress, shame or self-recrimination. Mindfulness is the attitude I strive for in everything I do and so I naturally bring it to my work. Meditation and relaxation techniques are practices that can help people develop mindfulness.
Meditation and Relaxation Techniques

If you're a new parent you may have forgotten what it feels like to relax. Or perhaps you never did much relaxing to begin with and didn't see the need. I believe and research proves that we are at our best when we are able to shift into a relaxed state at will. Practice makes perfect because the more often the body and mind are in a relaxed state the more easily you will be able to recover from the unavoidable stresses of daily life. I'll teach you techniques that you can practice at home even if only for minutes a day.
Distance Mentoring using SKYPE

For those individuals and couples who want to work with me but who are unable to get to my office, I offer on-line mentoring using SKYPE.
SKYPE is a program you can download onto your computer for free. Then all you need is a web-cam for us to talk and see each other at the same time. Please note that if you are experiencing severe depression, or other serious and persistent symptoms I strongly recommend that you seek treatment that is local and in person.
